Rotary Family Health Days – Ghana

Multi District Global Grant Project 2015-2016

Objectives of this Humanitarian Global Grant Project:
To provide three days of free health screening services for the men, women and children in deprived communities across the country of Ghana.

Community Needs that this project will address and how they are identified:
Many individuals and families do not know their health status and therefore suffer and possibly die. Health screens are provided for Malaria, HIV, TB, Diabetes, Cervical Cancer, Anemia, Hypertension, Eye and Dental support. Immunizations for polio and measles vaccines are provided for the children.

The Rotary Foundation has approved this program as SUSTAINABLE because these conditions are identified as critical to community
health and well being.

The estimated numbers of direct beneficiaries that will benefit from this Global Grant are 40,000 men, women and children in the urban and poorest urban areas of Ghana. This is the second year of this program in Ghana and the fifth year of this program in other countries in Africa.

The project will take place in 40 communities across the country of Ghana. It is managed by Rotarians for Family Health & AIDS Prevention, a Rotary Action Group, in partnership with 25 Ghana Rotary clubs, the Ghana Health Service, USAID, and country NGOs. GHS has identified the neighborhoods in Ghana with the highest incidence of preventable disease and high mortality rates.
