On Monday, November 15, a group of Rotarians from District 7680 assembled at Second Harvest Food Bank and participated in packing 250 boxes of all-fresh produce which will be distributed today to needy families and individuals. The boxes consisted of potatoes, apples, pears, corn, green beans, bell peppers, celery, and carrots, all much needed in helping people have balanced nutrition in their diets. Participating today were Rotarians from the Charlotte International Club (Joan Foley, Lydie Surget, Mohamed Abdel-Hameed, and Bruce Stewart); the Charlotte Club (Jerry Coughter and Claire Coughter); the Mecklenburg County – South Club (Linda Rakvic); and the Charlotte Dilworth South End Club (Amarja Webb and Kevin Kendrick). After packing these very necessary boxes, District Governor Nico Iannelli and Dilworth South End member Jay Patel, presented checks to Celia Farmer of Second Harvest from Rotary and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association in collaboration with Rotary. The checks totaled almost $3,000 and represented the equivalent of 17,100 meals.
