Rules and Guidelines

The District 7680 SFTL Committee is responsible to you, your parents, your school and your sponsoring Rotary Club for upholding the spirit and purpose of the SFTL program and ensuring a positive and enjoyable learning experience. Further, we have a contractual or ethical responsibility to uphold the rules of Gardner-Webb University. As such, we must ensure a safe and orderly environment for the seminar.

You too, have a responsibility. As a leader or aspiring leader, you must set an example. You are representing your school, your sponsoring Rotary Club, and your community. We are certain that you want them to be proud of you.

 

RULES AND GUIDELINES

  1. Alcohol and drugs: There will be no drinking of alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs.
  2. Smoking: No smoking is permitted at any time during the SFTL program.
  3. Conduct: Attendees must, always, be respectful of the feelings and personage of the other participants. Attendees will act in a manner that is considerate of (and in the best interests of) the goals of the program, and of the other participants in the program. Attendees must refrain from profanity, mean-spirited humor, any ill will, or the disfiguring of the facility or any property.
  4. Sexual harassment and bullying will not be tolerated.
  5. No one of the opposite gender is allowed on the other gender dorm floors.
  6. There shall be no public displays of affection including kissing, hand holding or other intimate displays between participants or between participants and staff.
  7. Attendance: Each attendee must attend the entire program. Students may NOT leave during the program, even for emergencies, without approval from the SFTL Chairperson.
  8. Disciplinary Action: Violation of the rules will result in immediate dismissal from the program. Dismissed students will remain in their dorm room until their Parent/Guardian arrives for their immediate departure.
  9. Attire: Casual dress is appropriate, as the conference will include both classroom and outdoor physical activities. No short-shorts, spaghetti tops or bare mid-drifts. Overly suggestive attire or clothing with crude words/images are not compatible with responsible leadership traits and should not be worn to SFTL.
  10. No illegal activity.
