For a late fall service project, our Club has for the last several years collected winter coats for distribution to those in need. This year we collected 50 coats and on “Giving Tuesday”, Nov. 30, two members of our Rotary Club delivered the coats to Chris Mills, Principal of the Webb Street School in Gastonia. The Webb Street School is a public, separate school serving students with cognitive impairments in Gaston County. They currently have 130 students ranging in age from kindergarten to 22. Chris told us that most of the students did not have adequate coats for winter and were most excited at the prospect of this gift.
Below is the note sent to our members after the delivery.
Just wanted to send out another BIG THANKS to all who contributed/donated coats for the Webb Street School. We collected 50 coats in all sizes ranging from extra small to XXXL. We delivered them to Principal Chris Mills this morning and he was MOST excited. He said the coats are much needed and the students would be excited.
